Launching of an Ambitious Project with Swades Foundation |
|
Laxmi Charitable Trust was started with a motto of “Reaching Unreachables” and all our efforts till now are directed towards it. But even after conducting more than 1000 eye check camps and performing 30,000 free cataract surgeries, we realized that it is so difficult to reach every unreached person, even in an area of Raigad district. After a long planning, we have now come out with a dream project with the help of Swades Foundation that we will be reaching to almost each and every person, even in the remotest place. This pilot project is planned for a Mhasala Taluka. Through this project “Swaraksha Mitra”, who are trained personnel in identifying common eye diseases, to record vision and eye care, have started with a door to door survey in Mhasala Taluka. A fully equipped mobile van will go place to place to examine the patients by trained optometrists in this area. Patients identified with any eye problem by “Swaraksha Mitra” will be examined by these optometrists in this Van. They will be provided with the spectacles as per the necessity and the patient requiring further treatment or surgery will be brought to our base hospital at Panvel. All these services will be either free of cost or at very nominal charges to these patients. On Sunday, 1st December 2013, this Van was officially flagged off in Mumbai by Founder of Swades Foundation Mr. Ronie Screwalla and Mrs. Zarina Mehta. Distinguished members from other partners in this project from Red Cross Society, Mumbai Branch and Rotary Club of Bombay Metropolitan, were also present for the function. |
