      Degree Optometry Course
      Optometry is an independent primary health care profession which emphasises on prevention and remediation of disorders of visual system through examination, diagnosis and treatment of visual disorders. It is a primary health care profession for the eye.

      Laxmi College of Optometry is running a Degree course in Optometry of 3 years + 1 year paid internship since 2006. This course is affiliated to Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University.

      As per WHO criteria, our nation requires 1,16,000 optometrists for eye care, whereas at present total number of optometrists in the country is not more than 40,000, in which, only 2500 optometrists are qualified degree holders. The demand is very high and in a year presently only 4500 optometrists are produced throughout the country.

      Eligibility Criteria for degree course is 12th Science passed with minimum 50% marks. There is no CET for this course. This is the fourth highest paid profession in India.
