Laxmi Charitable Trust Eye Hospital is a recognized institute to conduct the prestigious Post Graduate Diplomate in Ophthalmology conducted by National Board of Examination, New Delhi.
We are recognized to take 2 primary & 2 secondary candidates every year.
Till date we have had excellent results , as all our candidates have done very well. Many of them have gone ahead to do fellowships in various subspecialities , both nationally & internationally.
With the state of art equipment available & the latest treatment in eyecare given to patients at our Institute, students benefit tremendously from this program. The kind of exposure they get in the field of ophthalmology is parallel to the best in the world.
Our program has a well organized schedule both for academics & practicals.
There are weekly lectures covering the entire syllabus, with respective teachers & regular monitoring. There are journal clubs, clinical meetings schedules on a weekly basis. There are talks by faculty from outside on newer practices as & when required. We have visiting faculty from abroad who are happy to share their skills with our Institute, of which our students are also a part.
The residency surgical program is also very well planned & executed, so that all residents are capable of doing SICS independently from the 2nd year of their training. Residents are fine tuned in Phacoemulsification in the 3rd year of residency. They assist retinal procedures, Glaucoma surgeries, Corneal surgeries.
They are exposed to Glaucoma Valves, DSAEK, DALK, Pediatric cataracts, Squints of all kinds, Oculoplasty surgeries including, orbital repairs, other than sac, & lid surgeries, refractive procedures both corneal & lens based like LASIK, ICL, Toric implants, LRI, Rose K lens fittings,etc.
They are exposed to the functioning of a Diabetic Screening, ROP screening, Corneal scraping & microbiology of the same, Low vision aid clinic, Specialised Contact Lens clinic. They perform FFA’s , Intravitreal injections, Perimetries, OCT both Anterior & Post segment, Corneal Topography using the Oculyser, A-Scan Biometry both Ultrasound & Optical using the IOL master, They do the Abberations on the I-Tracey, hence they are adept at interpretation of any diagnostic modality at the end of their training.
